The future is uncertain for MMA legends, Tito Ortiz and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, after their fights at UFC 140 according to mmajunkie.com.
"He's (Ortiz) in the hospital, with something. He could have a fractured or broken rib. Those things take a long time to recover from. We'll see," Dana White, UFC president, said.
Ortiz fought Antonio Rogerio Nogueira and was aggressive early on but it was "Lil Nog" who drew first blood with a knee to Ortiz's body. That strike was enough to send "The People's Champ" to the ground, a few unanswered strikes later was enough for "Lil Nog" to seal his victory in the opening round.
Now 36 years old, Ortiz's future is questionable especially with the possibility of a serious injury.
"You know, I'm always looking for guys' health. It's not like Tito got viciously knocked out tonight. He got hurt to the body. We'll see what happens. I don't know. I've got to talk with Tito. We'll see," White said.
Another career in question is Nogueira's, "Big Nog", after suffering a first round loss to Frank Mir in their rematch.
Nogueira was close to putting Mir away after dropping him with an overhand right but when the two scrambled on the ground, it was Mir who sunk in a kimura. Nogueira refused to tap to the submission and ultimately had his arm broken.
X-rays revealed that surgery is necessary to repair the broken arm as well as the additional damage to the shoulder and elbow.
"'Big Nog' looked great tonight until that submission. Big Nog' is a nice guy, and he's a guy whom I respect...I'm going to have to sit down and talk to him. I don't want to see him get hurt or anybody else," White said.
