GSP focused on Condit, but believes Anderson Silva is a good fight according to manager
by Adam Smith on September 07, 2012

"We haven't talked about [fighting Silva] much lately because we are always talking about Condit. We don't want to disrespect Condit. We underestimated Matt Serra before while thinking about other fights and we learned our lesson then. Anderson, yes, I think it's a good fight, but we consider Carlos Condit to be the biggest challenge Georges has ever faced." -Firas Zahabi via UFC

Famed trainer and Tristar gym leader Firas Zahabi will not allow his prized fighter, UFC welterweight Georges St. Pierre, to fall into the same trap twice. Zahabi was in St. Pierre's corner when he suffered the only knockout defeat of his career, a first round KO at the hands of Matt Serra at UFC 69 back in 2007.

With St. Pierre enduring an 18-month layoff due to knee surgery, the two have plenty to work on in preparation for dangerous UFC interim champ Carlos Condit

Condit (28-5), is riding a four fight winning streak since a razor thin decision loss to Martin Kampmann in his UFC debut. He's gone on to defeat Jake Ellenberger, Rory MacDonald, Dan Hardy and Kim Dong-Hyun and Nick Diaz in succession, earning the UFC welterweight interim title and a shot at MMA legend Georges St. Pierre.

The two will square off on November 17, 2012 at UFC 154 in St. Pierre's hometown of Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

 |  (26) Comments GO HARD: Im just saying Jade, Sic was saying that GSP would not fight Silva after Condit and it is looking to be correct. GO HARD: i guess we will see... i might be leaning toward the fight not happening... nygiant: I certainly hope it happens. snuff: Why is GSP more excited about the new challenges in the division though instead of fighting Silva? With all the building hype behind the super fight GSP now chooses the time to find interest in his own division again? LOL. flyangler: Oh well looks like Silva will just have to take a super fight against Bones then........And noone can deny the WW division has much better challenges for GSP than the MW division has for Anderson, right? I mean, there is not one fighter at middleweight that is ready or even worthy of fighting Anderson in the next 8 to 12 months. And, after Bones throttles Belfort, who is worthy of fighting him in the forseeable future? And why would anyone want to see GSP, no finishing power LnP master, move up in weight to fight the best fighter in history? That would be a lopsided 1 or 2 round beatdown. Silva and Jones is a much better Superfight, don't ya think. And Dana said it could happen. Thanks to the WW division being stacked, the stars may be aligning. Bones VS Silva, New Years Eve!!
