A heavyweight bout between Gabriel Gonzaga and newcomer Chris Tuchscherer is in the works for UFC 102. Both Gonzaga and Tuchscherer have verbally agreed to the contest but bout agreements have yet to be signed.
Gabriel Gonzaga (10-4) is fresh off a loss to Shane Carwin at UFC 96 dropping his UFC record to 6-3. Gonzaga burst onto the MMA landscape in 2007 with a devastating head kick knockout of Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic.
Chris Tuchscherer (17-1) is currently riding a three-fight win streak; his last win coming over Jamie Klair at last month's SNMMA: "Extreme Beatdown." Tuchscherer trains out of the Minnesota Mixed Martial Arts Academy where he is a primary training partner for UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar.
UFC 102 features a highly anticipated heavyweight bout between former champions Randy Couture and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, as well as a key middleweight bout between Nate Marquardt and Demian Maia.
