George Sotiropoulos vs. Jason Dent in line for UFC 106
by Jacob Camargo on September 16, 2009

A lightweight bout between former TUF cast members Jason Dent and George Sotiropoulos will take place on the under card of the UFC 106 event on Nov. 21 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, NV.

News of the bout was first reported by Scott Dryden, Editor-in-Chief of ProFighting-fans.com.

Dent was a competitor on last season's the Ultimate Fighter, where he was a part of Dan Henderson's Team USA. He advanced in the lightweight tournament by defeating Jeff Lawson but would go on to lose to eventual season winner Ross Pearson in the semi-finals.

Dent (19-9) is currently on a four-fight win streak, with his most recent win coming against fellow TUF 9 cast member Cameron Dollar at June's TUF 9 finale. He has not lost since being defeated by prospect Torrance Taylor in Nov. 2007. Dent sports a sub-par 1-2 UFC record, with back-to-back losses against Roger Huerta and Gleison Tibau in a previous stint with the UFC.

The King of the Cage veteran, Dent, has finished all 19 of his career wins, including 15 by submission, and has only been stopped in two of his 28 career bouts since making his professional debut in 2003.

Sotiropoulos (10-2) started his career with the UFC as a cast member on the sixth season of the Ultimate Fighter. He has won his last four bouts, which includes wins in his first three UFC contests over fellow TUF 6 alumni Billy Miles and Roman Mitichyan as well as his most recent victory coming over George Roop at UFC 101 last month.

Prior to the four-fight win streak, he suffered a disqualification loss against lightweight star Shinya Aoki at a Shooto event in Oct. 2006. Sotiropoulos is a crafty submission ace as he has finished five of his seven career wins by submission.

UFC 106 will be headlined by a UFC heavyweight title bout between current UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar and challenger, Shane Carwin. In addition, former UFC light-heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz returns to the Octagon to face UFC Hall-of-famer Mark Coleman.
