George St. Pierre not fazed by Nick Diaz's trash talk, "I'm just going to focus on hurting him"

George St. Pierre says that Nick Diaz's trash talk is fruitless as he focuses on defeating the Stockton challenger at UFC 143 according to mmamania.com.

Diaz earned his title shot against St. Pierre after he bruised and battered BJ Penn to a unanimous decision victory at UFC 137. Following his fight with Penn, Diaz called out St. Pierre and accused the French-Canadian welterweight champion of ducking a fight with him by faking an injury.

"He did very well (against Penn.) He's the No. 1 contender and he deserves a shot. I'm very happy to fight him. It's always been the fight I've wanted to have. They only thing is he did not show up at the press conference...so the fight got cancelled - not because of me, but because of him and what he had done. But me, I wanted to fight him," St. Pierre said.

St. Pierre is now set to defend his title against Diaz at UFC 143. In terms of trash talk it's certainly nothing new for St. Pierre. It wasn't too long ago that Josh Koscheck bombarded St. Pierre with ill words during their time as coaches on The Ultimate Fighter season 12 and the lead-up to their fight at UFC 124, St. Pierre went on to win the bout via unanimous decision.

"I've seen it all from everyone before. If they're trying to get into my head and make me fight a bad fight, it's just mind games and it doesn't work. I don't even understand (or) speak English very well. I don't understand most of the things that Diaz says when he trash talks...I'm just going to focus on hurting him. If I hit him well, he's going to fall. He's a human being. He's not different than anyone else...It's going to be a good fight," St. Pierre said.

Carlos Condit, the original challenger to St. Pierre's title, is scheduled to fight Josh Koscheck on the same event as well, at UFC 143. The winner of that bout will be next in line to contest for the welterweight title.

UFC 143 is planned for February 4, 2012 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. St. Pierre vs. Diaz is scheduled for the main event.
