Gina Carano to appear on cover of inaugural “ESPN The Magazine: The Body Issue”
by Natalia Baage on October 06, 2009

Come Friday, Oct. 9, fans can see Gina Carano on the cover of ESPN's The Magazine. But here is a sneak peak of her cover photo.

The "Body Issue," of which Carano is standing topless but covered with a strategically-placed arm, is a first for ESPN The Magazine. It will be a new special edition of the magazine, looking to, perhaps, compete with the likes of "The Swimsuit Edition" sometime in the future.

Five other athletes have also been given individual covers of "The Body Issue." Serena Williams (tennis) and Adrian Peterson (football) both appear nude in their covers, while Dwight Howard (basketball) stands from the waist up. Other athletes include Carl Edwards (NASCAR) and Sarah Reinertsen (triathlete).

Carano (7-1) is a Strikeforce fighter, who is one of the few well-known female mixed martial arts fighters. She sufferer her only loss earlier this year in August when she was defeated by Cristiane Santos via first-round TKO.
