Top female fighter, Gina Carano, is looking to return to fighting in the near future according to fightersonlymagazine.co.uk.
Carano has been on a 22 month layoff after dealing with a series of medical issues that postponed her return to the cage. Carano was scheduled to fight Sarah D'Alelio in the Strikeforce: Dallas event this past weekend but pulled out last minute at the advice of her own personal doctor, not at the request of the Texas Athletic Commission as it was previously believed.
"Gina is feeling much better after having undergone some medical attention and is looking forward to getting back into training very soon," Strikeforce CEO, Scott Coker, said on fightersonlymagazine.co.uk.
Carano's last bout was back in late 2009, against Cristiane Santos for the Strikeforce's women middleweight championship. Carano lost that bout due to strikes late in the first round but it was her seven fight win streak leading her to that title bout which established her as one of the best.
The date of Carano's return is unknown.
