One of the brightest and most talented middleweight prospects in the UFC, Goran Reljic, will likely make his return to the Octagon against TUF 7 runner-up CB Dollaway at UFC 110 on February 21 at the Acer Arena in Sydney, Australia. The bout was first reported by MMAMadness.com.
The return of Mirko Cro Cop's protege, Reljic, will be good news for many fans who have been curious of the whereabouts of the young Croatian fighter. There were rumors that he was planning to leave the UFC or even retire due to a severe back injury, however, Reljic has denied such rumors.
Reljic hasn't fought since making a successful UFC debut as a light-heavyweight at UFC 84 in May 2008, where he scored an impressive second-round TKO win over Wilson Gouveia. He was set to drop down to middleweight for his sophomore effort against Thales Leites at UFC 90 in Oct. 2008, however, he was forced off of the event with a severe back injury.
Reljic underwent lower back surgery in February and has been out since. He has been trying several different rehabilitation solutions to solve his back problem and gradually went from light to more intense training. He has put together a 8-0 MMA record since turning pro in April 2004 and has scored stoppage wins in all but one of his eight career victories including five by submission.
Dollaway (9-2) is 3-1 in his last four fights, most recently defeating UFC newcomer Jay Silva at UFC Fight Night 19 in September. His lone loss over that span came in his previous fight against Tom Lawlor at UFC 100 in July. Dollaway sports a 3-2 UFC record, with other Octagon wins over Jesse Taylor and Mike Massenzio; while suffering his only other UFC loss to Amir Sadollah. The Arizona Combat Sports fighter has finished seven of his nine career wins including five by TKO.
UFC 110 will likely feature a heavyweight bout between contenders Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Cain Velasquez. In addition, a very interesting middleweight bout between the UK's Michael Bisping and former Pride superstar Wanderlei Silva will also be featured on the card.
Other bouts in the works for the event include Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic vs. Ben Rothwell, Keith Jardine vs. Ryan Bader, Krzysztof Soszynski vs. Stephan Bonnar and Joe Stevenson vs. George Sotiropoulos.
