"Could do a better job, but I thought I gave it my best effort. I could have done better. We wanted him to get up and take his medicine, but again I could have been more aggressive. He's at American Top Team and those guys have good takedowns. He did a good job." -Houston Alexander
Houston Alexander had few words to say in the locker room following his unanimous decision loss to Kimbo Slice last night at The Ultimate Fighter 10 Finale, but did give Slice credit for his improved takedown defense. Alexander moves to 9-5 in his professional MMA career and his UFC record drops to 2-4. The loss marks Alexander's forth-straight with the UFC following defeats at the hands of Thiago Silva, James Irvin, Eric Shafer and now Kimbo Slice.
It's unclear where the popular brawler goes from here. After his loss to Shafer, Alexander was granted permission to seek a fight outside of the organization with the idea that he would be allowed to return after getting some wins under his belt. Alexander did just that with a sharp performance against Sherman Pendergarst at a recent AdrenalineMMA event last month, and seemed tailor made to have an exciting knockdown drag-out brawl with Slice, though that didn't necessarily materialize last night.
