Ivan Menjivar has agreed to replace Michael McDonald, faces Nick Pace at UFC 133
by Tim Groves on May 20, 2011

Ivan Menjivar (22-8) has agreed to step in for Michael McDonald and will face Nick Pace (6-1) at UFC 133, according to UFC.com.

UFC 133 is set to take place in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on August 6.

Nick Pace vs. Michael McDonald was originally announced for the event but McDonald then stepped in for Norifumi Yamamoto at UFC 130. "Kid" Yamamoto was set to face Chris Cariaso at the event, but was forced out due to an injury. With McDonald stepping in on short notice, it left Pace without an opponent for the August event.

Menjivar now fills that hole. "The Pride of El Salvador" is fresh off of a brutal knockout of Charlie Valencia at UFC 129. Menjivar has fought at four different weight classes over the course of his mixed martial arts career. He has faced notable opponents Georges St. Pierre and Matt Serra at welterweight, Joe Lauzon and Caol Uno at lightweight and he now fights at bantamweight.

UFC 133 is currently headlined by a light heavyweight clash between Rashad Evans and Phil Davis. A featherweight title fight between champion Jose Aldo and challenger Chad Mendes may also take place in Philadelphia.
