Jake O’Brien let go by the UFC

Light-heavyweight Jake O'Brien is the latest to fighter to be released by the UFC, who have also released other fighters such as Thales Leites and Tamden McCrory recently. News of the O'Brien's release from the UFC comes via FiveOuncesOfPain.com.

The 24-year-old is coming off a loss against talented undefeated prospect Jon Jones at UFC 100 last month. He exits the UFC with a winning record of 4-3 inside the octagon, with wins over Kristof Midoux, Josh Schockman, Christian Wellisch and Heath Herring. His other losses came against Andrei Arlovski and Cain Velasquez.

Since turning pro in May 2005, O'Brien has put together an overall MMA record of 11-3, with 8 wins coming by way of TKO or KO. He holds other notable wins over Pat Harmon and Jay White.
