The UFC recently announced the addition of a middleweight bout between TUF 3 middleweight winner Kendall Grove and Jake Rosholt to the preliminary portion of its UFC 106 event on Nov. 21 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, NV.
The UFC also confirmed two previously reported bouts for the main card of UFC 106, including a welterweight bout between former UFC 170-pound title contender Jon Fitch and former middleweight Ricardo Almeida. Also confirmed was another welterweight bout between Dustin Hazelett and Karo Parisyan.
Grove (10-6) is coming off of a loss against Ricardo Almeida at UFC 101 on Aug. 8. Prior to the loss, he won two straight fights against the likes of Jason Day and the late Evan Tanner. Grove sports a UFC record of 5-3, with other Octagon wins coming over Chris Price, Ed Herman and Alan Belcher. The six-year veteran has finished eight of his 10 career wins, including six coming by submission.
Rosholt picked up his first UFC win in his last bout when he defeated TUF 1 cast member Chris Leben via third round submission at UFC 102 on Aug. 29. The submission win over Leben earned Rosholt $60,000 for the "Submission of the Night" bonus.
Prior to the UFC 102 win, Rosholt suffered his first career loss in his Octagon debut against Dan Miller at UFN 17 in February. The three-time NCAA Division I national wrestling champion sports an MMA record of 6-1.
UFC 106 will be headlined by a UFC heavyweight title bout between current champion Brock Lesnar and challenger, Shane Carwin. In addition, a rematch between former UFC light-heavyweight champions Tito Ortiz and Forrest Griffin will serve as the co-main event.
