Jake Shields has openly lobbied over the past month for the opportunity to face highly regarded Japanese lightweight Shinya Aoki.
Shields, though for now, has begrudgingly turned his attention towards Brit Paul Daley, though not without a parting shot.
"I don't think Aoki wants to fight me. He's got no warrior spirit," Shields told MMAWeekly. "He's from Japan, who'd have thought?"
Shields though doesn't appear to be underestimating the dynamic Daley, who he'll face on October 4th as part of CBS/EliteXC's third prime time card.
"Obviously I'm going to take him serious, start watching tapes and figure it out from there," he said.
