The UFC have confirmed that the Jake Shields vs. Jake Ellenberger bout is official for UFC Fight Night 25: Battle on the Bayou according to mmajunkie.com
The two welterweights are also set to headline the main card as well. Contrasted to what UFC president, Dana White, announced earlier this month about all main events being five rounds, this bout is book for the usual three round fight.
Shields (26-5-1) will be looking to rebound from a unanimous decision loss in his title bout with the long time defending welterweight champion, George St. Pierre. That loss snapped a 15 fight win streak that dated back to late 2005.
Opposing Shields is Ellenberger (25-5), whose on a four fight win streak after a tough UFC debut split decision loss to Carlos Condit. Ellenberger's last outing into the octagon resulted in a knockout win over Sean Pierson.
Other bouts planned for the card include Alan Belcher fighting Jason MacDonald. South Korean import, Dongi Yang, battling Court McGee. A featherweight bout between Erik Koch and Jonathan Brookins also scheduled.
UFC Fight Night 25: Battle on the Bayou will be held on September 17 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, Louisiana.
