A light-heavyweight bout between UFC newcomers Jared Hamman and Alexander Gustafsson is in the works for the non-televised preliminary portion of the UFC 105 event on Nov. 14 from the Manchester Evening News Arena in Manchester, England. News of the bout came via Fighter's Only.
Hamman comes to the UFC after being dropped from Strikeforce's roster. He was originally set to face Rafael "Feijao" Cavalcante on the June 6 Strikeforce card, however, an injury knocked him from that event and there was no word on why Hamman was let go from the promotion.
Hamman has not fought since defeating Poai Suganuma at last August's ShoXC: "Hamman vs. Suganuma II." Prior to the win, he suffered his first career loss at the hands of Poai Suganuma via a flying knee just 15 seconds into their bout. The former ProElite fighter, Hamman, sports an almost flawless 10-1 overall MMA record, with all of his wins coming via stoppages, including eight by TKO or KO. He holds notable wins in his career over Aaron Rosa and Travis Wiuff.
Gustafsson is fresh off a first-round knockout win over Vladimir Shemarov in his most recent fight in May. The Swedish fighter enters the Octagon with much hype as he sports an undefeated 8-0 MMA record, with seven of his wins being by stoppages, including five first-round stoppages all coming by punches.
The UFC is working hard, trying to find a main event for UFC 105, however, the rest of the card seems to be coming along at a rapid pace. Michael Bisping will compete in the co-main event bout opposite Denis Kang, and TUF 9 winners James Wilks and Ross Pearson will also be competing in the event, along with recent UFC signee Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, who will be making his much-anticipated debut with the promotion.
