Jason Brilz vs. Ryan Bader at UFC 139
by Hubert Lau on August 23, 2011

More light heavyweight action is scheduled for UFC 139 as Ryan Bader faces Jason Brilz on the San Jose card according to ufc.com.

Bader (12-2) will look to get back on track as he prepares for Brilz. Not long ago, Bader was considered one of the division's top prospects. But successive defeats to Jon Jones and Tito Ortiz in 2011 have sidelined any thoughts of title contention in the near future. His first round submission defeat to Ortiz at UFC 132 was particularly surprising since Ortiz failed to win in the five years prior to the bout.

Brilz (18-4-1) will similarly look to get back on the win column and snap a two fight losing streak against Bader. Brilz recently fell to Vladimir Matyushenko via knockout at UFC 129.

Either man can ill afford another loss, which would extend their losing streak to three fights. This is especially true for Brilz who is approaching the twilight of his career at 36 years old and is already sporting an unfavorable 1-3 record in his last four fights.

UFC 139 to take place on November 19 at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California. The event is headlined by Cain Velasquez defending his heavyweight title for the first time against Junior dos Santos.
