A pair of former UFC fighters will meet at MFC 22 as the always exciting Jason MacDonald will take on TUF 4 winner Travis Lutter in a middleweight bout. News of the bout comes via Sportsnet.ca.
MFC 22 will take place on October 2nd from the River Cree resort and Casino in Enoch, Alberta, Canada.
This will be MacDonald's first bout since getting released from the UFC following two straight losses against Wilson Gouveia and Nate Quarry. He exits the UFC with an even 5-5 UFC record, with wins over the likes of Ed Herman, Chris Leben and Joe Doerksen. The 10-year veteran of the sport holds a 21-12 MMA record, with an amazing 17 wins by submission and 3 via TKO.
Lutter has lost two straight, with his most recent loss coming against Rich Franklin at UFC 83 last April after which he was promptly released by the organization. In his loss prior to that fight, Lutter dropped a relatively competitive contest to UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva in a non-title bout after Lutter came into the fight overweight. He sports a 9-5 MMA record, with 8 wins coming by way of stoppage and holds notable wins over Jose Landi-Jons, Marvin Eastman and Patrick Cote.
