Featherweights Javier Vazquez and L.C. Davis will both be looking to make a successful WEC debut when they meet at WEC 42. News of the bout comes via Sherdog.com. The Vazquez-Davis bout had originally been scheduled to take place at Affliction "Trilogy" on August 1 before the promotions ultimate demise.
Vazquez (13-2) is currently riding a four-fight win streak with his most recent win coming over Mark Kergosien at "Ultimate Chaos" in June. He hasn't lost since KOTC 21 in February 2003, where he was defeated by UFC veteran Alberto Crane. The 11-year veteran has fought for EliteXC, KOTC and Shooto. Nine of his 13 career wins have been via stoppage and he holds notable wins over the likes of JC Pennington, Rumina Sato and Rob Emerson.
Davis (13-2) is coming off a loss to Michihiro Omigawa at Sengoku 7 back in March. Prior to the loss, he'd put together four straight wins including a big win over Bao Quach at Affliction: "Day of Reckoning". The IFL veteran, Davis, has 6 wins by submission and 5 by TKO or KO. He holds notable wins over WEC fighter Rafael Dias and Strikeforce veteran Conor Heun.
WEC 42 takes place on August 9 from the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada and will be televised live on Versus. The event is headlined by a bantamweight title bout between current champion Miguel Torres and number one challenger Brian Bowles.
