The WEC are currently discussing a possible bantamweight bout between Jeff Curran and Takeya Mizugaki for a WEC 42 event planned for August 2009. WEC 42 could feature Miguel Torres in the main event, defending his bantamweight title against undefeated “Hard Core” product Brian Bowles this August.

Jeff Curran is currently on a 3-fight losing streak, with his last loss coming to Joseph Benavidez at WEC 40 in his bantamweight debut. Prior to his WEC 40 loss, Curran suffered back-to-back losses in the featherweight division against mainstays Urijah Faber and Mike Thomas Brown.

Shooto Veteran,Takeya Mizugaki, made quite a impression at WEC 40 as he took 135-pound kingpin Miguel Torres to a five round decision; Mizugaki was filling in for the injured Brian Bowles against Torres.
