A heavyweight bout between Jeff "The Snowman" Monson and Pedro Rizzo is being discussed for the "Bitetti Combat" fight card. News of the bout comes via Super Lutas.
Monson and Rizzo previously fought in September of 2008 at Art of War 3 in Dallas, TX, where Rizzo scored a third round TKO win over Monson.
Monson is also slated to fight Tony Sylvester at a North American Allied Fight Series event on August 29.
Monson is currently riding a seven-fight win streak, which includes wins over Mark Kerr, Ricco Rodriguez, Roy Nelson, Sergei Kharitonov and most recently Jimmy Ambriz at last weekend's Total Combat show in Mexico City. The UFC and one-time Pride veteran last tasted defeat against Josh Barnett at Sengoku 2 last May. The 11-year MMA veteran is 30-8 in his MMA career, with a very impressive 19 wins coming by way of submission.
Rizzo is 1-2 in his last three fights and has suffered two straight brutal knockout losses in his last two fights. The first against against Josh Barnett and the second coming against Gilbert Yvel at "Ultimate Chaos" last month. "The Rock" has been competing professionally for 13 years and from October 1998 to November 2003 performed under the UFC banner. He owns a 16-9 MMA record, with 9 wins by TKO and 4 by submission, with notable wins over the likes of David "Tank" Abbott, Mark Coleman, Dan Severn, Josh Barnett and Andrei Arlovski.
"Bitetti Combat" takes place on September 12 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The event will also feature Ricardo Arona returning from a nearly two and a half year hiatus from the sport to take on Marvin Eastman in a light-heavyweight bout. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira will also be appearing on the card.
