Former UFC lightweight champion and TUF 5 coach, Jens Pulver, will be back in the WEC cage in 2010.
After four straight losses in the WEC - which were his only four fights in the past two years - Pulver was thought to be in his retirement stage. However, after confirmation from both parties saying that they are in discussion to being Pulver back into the cage, Pulver's future is looking brighter.
"I'm going to fight again," Pulver told MMA.Fanhouse.com. "And I'm about as confident as I possibly can be."
Even though Pulver's four last fights were losses, he moved from Iowa to Idaho and now feels that he is in a better place - both physically and mentally - and is ready to step back into the cage.
"We're talking to Jens," WEC general manager Reed Harris told Fighters Only. "I can't confirm anything right now, but Jens has indicated to us that he would like to fight again - I can tell you that."
No date or opponent has been set for Pulver at present time, as he and Harris are still in negotiations.
Pulver (20-12-1 MMA) was the UFC's first lightweight champion, winning the title in Feb. 2001. He defended his belt twice. Pulver holds wins over B.J. Penn, Joe Stevenson, Caol Uno and Cole Escovedo.
