Jim Miller now set to face Steve Lopez at UFC 103
by Jacob Camargo on August 21, 2009

The UFC 103 fight card appears to be set now as Jim Miller's new opponent for the event will be UFC newcomer Steve Lopez. News of the Lopez's insertion in the bout came via MMAjunkie.com.

Miller's original UFC 103 opponent Thiago Tavares was forced to withdraw from the event after he suffered a knee injury in training.

Miller (14-2) is fresh off a unanimous decision win over Mac Danzig at last month's UFC 100. Prior to the win, he suffered his first UFC loss against Gray Maynard at UFC 96 in March. Miller is 3-1 in the UFC thus far, with other wins over David Baron and Matt Wiman. The Cage Fury Fighting Championship and Ring of Combat veteran has finished 10 of his 14 career wins, including 9 coming via submission. He holds other notable wins over the likes of Muhsin Corbbrey, Chris Liguori and Bart Palaszewski.

Lopez is on a four fight win streak, with his most recent win coming against Alejandro Villalobos last October. He sports an impressive MMA record of 12-1, with his lone loss coming against Billy Stamp at Madtown Throwdown 16 last July. Lopez has earned eight of his 12 career wins by submission.

UFC 103 takes place September 19 from the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas and will be headlined by a 195-pound catchweight bout between former UFC champions Rich Franklin and Vitor Belfort.
