A lightweight bout between Jim Miller and Gleison Tibau has been verbally agreed to take place at a September UFC event as part of either a UFC Fight Night or pay-per-view card. News of the bout was first reported by MMADiehards.com.
Miller (17-2) is currently on a four-fight winning streak, most recently scoring a unanimous decision over Mark Bocek at UFC 111 in March. Prior to the wins, he suffered his first UFC loss against Gray Maynard at UFC 96 in March. Miller sports a 6-1 record in the organization, with other Octagon wins coming over Mac Danzig, Steve Lopez, Duane Ludwig, David Baron and Matt Wiman.
Prior to joining the UFC, Miller fought mostly on the east coast for notable promotions like IFL, Reality Fighting, Ring of Combat and Cage Fury Fighting Championships.
Miller has finished 12 of his 17 career wins, including 10 coming by submission, and holds other notable career wins over Muhsin Corbbrey, Anthony Morrison, Chris Liguori (x2) and Bart Palaszewski; while suffering his only other career loss to current UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar.
Tibau (20-6) is 4-1 in his last five bouts, which includes a current two-fight winning streak. He most recently notched up a very impressive first-round TKO win over Caol Uno at UFC Fight Night 21 in March. Tibau has put together a 7-4 record in 11 fights with the UFC, scoring other notable Octagon wins over Josh Neer, Jason Dent, Terry Etim, Rich Clementi and Jeremy Stephens.
The American Top Team product has competed professionally for 11 years, while fighting for other notable promotions such as Bitetti Combat, Storm Samurai and DEEP. He holds other career wins over the likes of Fabricio Camoes and Thiago Alves.
