A lightweight bout between Jim Miller and Thiago Tavares has been officially added to UFC 103 on September 19 at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.
Miller (14-2) is coming off an exciting decision win over Mac Danzig at UFC 100 last month. Prior to the win, he suffered his first loss in the UFC to Gray Maynard at UFC 96 in March. Miller now holds a 3-1 record in the UFC, with wins in his first two bouts with the promotion over David Baron and Matt Wiman. He has finished 10 of his fourteen career wins and he holds notable victories over the likes of Chris Liguori, Bart Palaszewski and Muhsin Corbbrey.
Tavares (14-3) is coming off a possibly job saving win over Manny Gamburyan at UFC 94 in January and is now 4-3 in seven bouts with the UFC. He was originally set to face Melvin Guillard at TUF 9 finale in June, but was force off that bout with an elbow injury. Prior to UFC 94, Tavares had lost two straight against Matt Wiman and Kurt Pellegrino. 10 of Tavares' 14 career wins come via submission.
