Joe Lauzon vs. Sam Stout likely for UFC 108
by Jacob Camargo on September 29, 2009

A lightweight bout between Joe Lauzon and Sam Stout is in the works for the UFC 108 event in January. Bout agreements have been distributed to both men, but are unsigned at this time, according to MMAMania.com.

Lauzon will be returning to action sooner then expected. He recently underwent major knee surgery in March to repair a torn meniscus that was supposed to sideline him for at least 12 months.

Lauzon (18-4) has won his last two fights, with wins coming over Kyle Bradley and most recently Jeremy Stephens at UFN 17 in February. Prior to the wins, he suffered his lone octagon loss against Kenny Florian at UFC Fight Night 13 last April. Lauzon sports a 5-1 overall UFC record, with other wins coming over Brandon Melendez, Jason Reinhardt and a big upset win over Jens Pulver in his UFC debut.

The World Fighting League and Absolute Fighting Championship veteran has finished all 18 of his career wins including 14 by submission, and he holds a notable win in his career over current WEC featherweight champ Mike Brown.

Stout's UFC 108 booking comes less then two weeks after his UFC Fight Night 19 bout against TUF 8 lightweight runner-up, Phillipe Nover, was canceled at the last minute due to Nover suffering a seizure in the locker room just hours before the event.

Stout (14-5-1) is coming off a win over Matt Wiman at UFC 97 in April. Prior to the win, he'd lost two straight against Rich Clementi and Terry Etim respectively. Stout is now 3-4 in seven fights with the UFC, with other octagon wins over Per Eklund and Spencer Fisher. The longtime TKO veteran has finished eight of his 14 career wins by TKO or KO and he holds notable wins over the likes of Fabio Holanda and Yves Jabouin.

Though officially unannounced, UFC 108 is expected to take place on Jan. 2, 2010 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV. The UFC's "Year End" event is expected to be headlined by a UFC middleweight title bout between longtime champ Anderson Silva and surging challenger, Vitor Belfort.
