Joe Riggs vs. Jay Hieron to air on live stream from Strikeforce: Miami
by Giada Esposito on January 26, 2010

Strikeforce has teamed up with EA Sports to provide a live stream of the Joe Riggs vs. Jay Hieron preliminarybout from Strikeforce "Miami" on January 30.

EA Sports, producer of the popular video game "EA Sports MMA", will stream the fight from EASportsMMA.com starting at 9:00 EST, and it will be the only fight shown from the preliminary card. The decision was apparently reached after many fans expressed interest in seeing the Riggs vs. Hieron fight, which will not be aired on television.

Hieron enters the bout riding a six-fight win streak, and had been slated to meet Nick Diaz last August at Strikeforce: Carano vs. Cyborg to fight for the vacant Strikeforce welterweight title, but that match was cancelled after Diaz missed a pre-fight drug test. Hieron was offered another opportunity to compete for the belt at Strikeforce: Miami, but turned down a fight with Marius Zaromskis. Hieron is 19-4 in his MMA career.

Riggs has won his last four fights, and overall is 32-11-1 in his career. He owns a past victory over current Strikeforce welterweight title challenger Nick Diaz, defeating Diaz via unanimous decision when the two men fought in 2006 at UFC 57.
