John Alessio replaces an injured Matt Wiman, to fight Mark Bocek at UFC 145

Ultimate Fighter season 5 standout, Matt Wiman, suffers an injury and replacing him is John Alessio who is now set to fight Mark Bocek at UFC 145 according to ufc.com.

Alessio (34-14) will be making his UFC return at UFC 145 after a six year absence. Alessio currently holds a 0-3 record with the promotion, fighting Thiago Alves at Ortiz vs. Shamrock 3: The Final Chapter, Diego Sanchez at UFC 60 and Pat Miletich UFC 26.

Alessio is on the heels of a three fight win streak, recently defeating Ryan Healy by the way of unanimous decision at a local Canadian promotion. Alessio is also a veteran of the WEC, 5-2 with the promotion, while also fighting in MFC.

Bocek (10-4) will be heading into his 11 UFC fight, last defeating Nik Lentz at UFC 140 via unanimous decision. Bocek has had an up and down record since 2009, 2-2 record over four fights. Bocek has defeated notables in Dustin Hazelett via triangle choke at UFC 124 and David Bielkheden via rear naked choke at The Ultimate Fighter: Heavyweights Finale.

UFC 145 is scheduled for April 21 at the Philips Arena in Atlanta, Georgia where Jon Jones looks to defend his light heavyweight belt against Rashad Evans.
