John Kolosci vs. Shamar Bailey set for Strikeforce: "Fedor vs. Rogers" undercard
by Jacob Camargo on October 10, 2009

A welterweight bout between rising prospect Shamar Bailey and former UFC fighter John Kolosci has been added to the rapidly filling, non-televised, preliminary portion of the Strikeforce: "Fedor vs. Rogers" card on Nov. 7 at the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates, Ill.

News of the bout and secured verbal agreements from both men was first reported by The Northwest Indiana Times.

Kolosci (10-5) may be best remembered for his time spent as a cast member on the sixth season of "The Ultimate Fighter" reality series. He is currently on a two fight winning streak, scoring decision wins over Rocky France and most recently Scott Sands at Duneland Classic 6 last month. Prior to those wins, Kolosci took sixteen months off from fighting following a loss to Matt Arroyo at the TUF 6 finale in Dec. 2007.

Bailey has won his last three bouts, with his most recent victory coming against Raymond Jarman at M-1 Challenge 18 in August. Prior to the winning streak, he was handed his first career loss at the hands of fellow prospect Roger Bowling in April 2008. The King of the Cage veteran sports a near perfect MMA record of 9-1, with five of his wins coming by stoppage, and he holds a notable career win over Waachiim Spiritwolf.

The Nov. 7 CBS televised event is headlined by a heavyweight bout between Fedor Emelianenko and Brett Rogers.

Also slated for the event, Jake Shields and Jason "Mayhem" Miller will meet for the vacant Strikeforce middleweight belt, UFC and Pride veteran Sokoudjou faces Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Gegard Mousasi in a non-title fight, and former EliteXC heavyweight champ Antonio Silva will fight in the U.S. for the first time in more than a year when he takes on Strikeforce heavyweight contender Fabricio Werdum.
