Johny Hendricks is set for another big fight says UFC president, Dana White, according to mmamania.com.
Hendricks (12-1) recently shook up the welterweight rankings with a 12 second knockout victory over Jon Fitch at UFC 141. With that win Hendricks' stock rises considerably since he took out the man who many believed is the second ranked welterweight in the world. This same man fought current longtime welterweight champion, George St. Pierre, for five rounds at UFC 87 and the champ himself was unable to stop Fitch.
"Hendricks did something that GSP couldn't do. There's no way this was an early stoppage. Hendricks comes bursting out of nowhere and takes down the number-two guy. He's got world class wrestling and nasty hands, he's going to get another big fight," White said.
The stacked welterweight division is in no short of matchups for Hendricks. Some possible matchups can be against the winners of Jake Shields vs. Yoshihiro Akiyama, Thiago Alves vs. Martin Kampmann or Diego Sanchez vs. Jake Ellenberger.
It remains to be seen which big name welterweight will fight Hendricks next. Whoever Hendricks' opponent may be, you can bet "Big Rig" is sure to throw bombs as he continues his journey up the ranks for a UFC title shot.
