Johny Hendricks wants a title shot after his UFC 141 KO victory over Jon Fitch according to mmajunkie.com.
"I want a title shot. If they don't give it to me, I'm not going to complain or anything. But I sort of see myself right there. I did what GSP couldn't do...I did what nobody else was able to do in the octagon. And I needed just one round to do it," Hendricks said.
It was hardly a contest when Hendricks and Fitch fought on the Friday night event. The heavy handed Hendricks needed just 12 seconds to put Fitch away. A left hook to Fitch's jaw sent the one time contender falling stiff to the ground and still dazed when he wrestled referee Steve Mazzagatti who jumped in to save Fitch from further punishment.
Defeating Fitch in such a manner cannot be overlooked. Hendricks is the first man in nearly a decade to stop Fitch within a fight. As he pointed out, it is a feat that not even the current welterweight champion, George St. Pierre, had accomplished.
Hendricks is now 12-1 and has defeated one of the top dogs at 175lb with his win over Fitch. His sole loss comes at the hands of former top contender, Rick Story.
"What did I tell you? What did I tell the media? I said to at least give me a puncher's chance. Just give me that. And it happened...I'm ready for the belt," Hendricks said.
