Jon Jones hopes Dan Henderson "keeps it classy" for their upcoming fight
by Hubert Lau on April 30, 2012

Jon Jones is no stranger to trash talk but hopes that his upcoming opponent, Dan Henderson, keeps it classy as the two prepare to fight later this year according to espn.com.

"As far as Dan Henderson, I'm excited about (him), he's a great fighter. You know, I've gone through a lot with Rashad as far as all of the trash talking and I really hope Dan's listening and I really hope that Dan keeps it classy throughout this fight," Jones said.

Jones received a mouthful, as well as dishing some back himself, in the weeks leading up to his fight with Rashad Evans. Accusations of betrayal, dishonesty and being two-faced were just some of the verbal jabs hurled at Jones by his former teammate whom Jones defeated at UFC 145 by the way of unanimous decision.

Since that victory, Henderson has been named as Jones' next challenger for his light heavyweight strap and it's apparent that Jones is in no mood for another round of trash-talk.

"I respect him as an older man, I respect him as a warrior and I just hope he keeps it classy and not drag me through another trash-talking bout. Let's stick to why we're really here, let's just fight," Jones said.

Henderson is not known for being a vocal trash talker, even after a season with Michael Bisping on the Ultimate Fighter season nine left Henderson relatively mild mannered until they fought at UFC 100.

Jones vs. Henderson has not received official booking yet, likely to be held in August or September.

 |  (63) Comments Giada Esposito: Somehow, I don't think Hendo is the sort of guy who is going to do a lot of trash-talking, to Jones or anyone else. Bones' experience with Rashad's mouth must have left him a little traumatized. :p GO HARD: Hendo loves to talk slick from the sideline, best believe he will junk talk from the side of his neck. Wandering_Minstrel: WAR Hendo! flyangler: "I respect him as an older man". Looks like Jones slipped one in for good measure. I don't think there will be much trash talking in this pre-fight build-up. thug4less: Haters gonna Hate~ :p nygiant: Unfortunately this won't even be a fight. It will play out exactly the way diva hendo played out. With Jones completely dominating. Boots: Everybody knows who going to win Jon Jones babii. Giada Esposito: I may be a bit crazy, but I think Hendo has a decent chance in this fight. Rashad caught Jones a couple times, and Hendo probably hits harder than Rashad. Jones will not have an easy time finishing him, and with several rounds to work, we just might see a new champ at the end of the night. Now, am I picking Hendo? No. I'm just saying people shouldn't right him off before it starts. snuff: But thing is guys, Dan does not pose the TD threat that Rashad had which kept Jones thinking. Also, Hendo does not have the fraction of the speed the Rashad possesses. I want Hendo to win with one of the most devastating KOs in the history of mankind. But the most likely scenario will be Jones toying with Mr. Hendo for 5 rounds. GO HARD: anybody else think Hendo is going to lose badly? shawnb: Mickey said it best in Rocky "The worst thing that happened to you, that can happen to any fighter: you got civilized" GO HARD: I dont care what he is... Hendo does not pose the wrestling threat that Evans did. Especially to go up against Jones.. This fight is going to be BAD. Michael Jackson BAD! Marker28: Trash talk is meaningless when division has officially been cleaned out. nygiant: Yeeeeaah um this fight is going to play out like the Silva vs Hendo fight did yeeeeaah except that Hendo won't put Bones on his butt yeeeeeaahhh Um I'm gonna need you to come into work tomorrow yeeeeeaahh nygiant: Jepwashere. SPAM!!! JujitsWho: Mmmmmmk. Thaaaaanks. Love that movie. " I'll tell ya what I'd do............two chicks at the same time, man." somnambulist: It is amazing. I saw it last week for the umpteenth time, as it happens. Giada Esposito: I hope Hendo keeps it classy too. Jones needs to keep all of his focus on the road.
