Jon Jones on Thiago Silva: "I'd love to give him a slap in the face."

"Wow that slapping was so disrespectful. I'd love to give him a slap in the face. For all the Tiago Silva fans who had a problem with my comment, I want you all to know that I stand behind what I said 100%. Dominating someone in a fight is 1 thing, looking to simply humiliate them is another. Traditional martial artists always seemed to show honor and respect. Anyways what's done is done, I'm headed to the gym to make sure nothing like that ever happens to me. - Jon Jones

Virtually undefeated light heavyweight super prospect Jon Jones takes exception to Thiago Silva's in-fight antics at the end of his decisive victory over Brandon Vera.

Jones relayed his thoughts yesterday via twitter (props to MMAMania for the assist). 

Silva and Vera engaged in a high-octane muay thai brawl while standing, with Vera seeming to get the better of Silva in those exchanges - but Silva was clearly the stronger grappler, taking down, controlling and punishing the former heavyweight standout for large parts of each of the three rounds they went at it.

During the end of the third round, Silva, seemingly frustrated by a somewhat turtled Vera, began to slap Vera in the face and mocked playing the bongos on his back.

Vera was turtled up doing NOTHING, what was Silva supposed to do, punch him some more? Might as well entertain the crowd while you're at it... D_V: Jones would destroy Silva GO HARD: if anderson silva did this ... u guys would be so irrate. i know shit happens in the moment in fights... the bongos was wack.. the slaps looked a little disrespectful. but it is a legal strike. not something i would be proud of, but thiago is a loose screw... it is what it is. GO HARD: of course he wouldnt do that to vitor... vitor is too dangerous. duh. but he was proving a point to his boss.. then his boss even puts a lesser opponent in the cage with him. dont forget, forrest destroyed shogun. IwishIwasMMA: I think Jones should be careful. A lot of people do not believe Silva is any good.. The guy has only lost to top 5 guys and both were world champions. If Thiago connects on Bones chin, Bones will sleep just like anyone else. I think the Bones admiration is a little over the top. He is good, but it still comes down to "who has he beaten?" xdusty: jon jones is a stud, he's super talented. but im going to pull out my crystal ball and look into the future on what will happen with him. he will beat alot of good fighters, but in one of his future big fights he will go to throw a spinning back crane kick elbow, and while he's busy being unique.....he's gonna catch a big shot to the chin and go to sleep. the hype train will stop and bones will become more conservative. he will be in the top 10 for many years but in 8-10 years he will be the new vera. Storm: i see Thiago being easier then Bader lol. this would be a step down imo. Mickey knox: Thiago should fight Bader after Bones beats him down. Sorry, but I think Bones is kinda being a whiny bitch here, he'd probably beat Silva, but he needs to get off his moral high horse. Fighters have spanked other fighters in the ring while beating them and didn't have people being all sensitive about it. So he played bongos on Vera's back, boo fuckin' hoo. Vera was probably happy he stopped bitch slapping him or punching him in the head, and he didn't look to bothered about it after the fight, I think he was more concentrated on the rearranged nose Silva gave him. I thought it was appropriate, I mean, he beat him like a drum the rest of the fight.:D Anywho, Jones is leaving alot of LHWs in the dust, but we'll find out where he's really at when he fights a Top 3 LHW, just like every other rising prospect.....It doesn't mean I have to like his opinions all the time. GO HARD: bones will be a champion, and thiago wont. bones will finish top opponents... bones will be okay. i didnt like thiagos drums.... i didnt like brocks cowride... i didnt even like andys dance. just how i feel. and if u dont like it , speek on it. props jon. Marker28: Thiago has to respond to this. D_V: Jones still owns Silva, any of them, Anderson, Thiago, Wanderlei, you name it, he'd beat it. D_V: Jones would actually have more difficulty with Wand or Thiago than Anderson. He is a nightmare for Andy. Andy has no game on his back, no take down defense and Jones hits about as hard as any mother fucker in the sport (including heavyweights) from top position. He would make Anderson look worse than he made Vera and Matyushenko look.
