After Marcus Davis lost a first-round KO fight at UFC 106 this past Saturday, his teammate, Jorge Gurgel, had some "nice and exciting" thoughts about who Davis should fight next in the Octagon.
"We all Love you, Marcus," Gurgel wrote on his Twitter page. "Your my big brother and we all know you will come back with a vengeance! A fight with Baroni would be nice and exciting... Just throwing this idea out there..."
Phil Baroni, Gurgel's choice to be Davis' next opponent, is also coming off of a loss at UFC 106. In fact, both Davis and Baroni are coming off of back-to-back losses. Gurgel might be looking for a way to get both welterweights back on track - especially his teammate, Davis.
Gurgel, himself, also recently lost his last fight earlier this month at ShoMMA 4. Via Twitter, he reflected on the hard times that he and Davis have been through recently.
"What a sport," said Gurgel. "There's no sport with more upsets than MMA. Camp can go perfect and shit hits the fan..camp sometimes is hard and we fight injured, sore and unsure if we did all we can do, then we have great performances. Its just how it is. And it isn't for everyone. Marcus had had the best camp and was the most prepared I have ever seen him. Tough tough month... Congrats to Saunders. Good dude.
"Tough times...We chose this life though. We have to be accepting and able to deal with all highs and lows that come with this career."
Right now, the Davis vs. Baroni bout it just an idea. The UFC is not currently putting this fight together.
However, the idea of two fighters coming off of back-to-back losses is something that the UFC has put together before in past years. In 2007, Chuck Liddell fought Wanderlei Silva, both of who were coming off of back-to-back losses in their careers.
