Josh Koscheck is expected to make his long awaited return to the Octagon at UFC 139, possibly in the middleweight division.
"My next fight is in SAN JOSE cali. NOV 19th Good chance fighting at 185lbs. :) should know real soon who," Koscheck wrote on his twitter account.
Koscheck has been sidelined since his last bout, nearly a year ago, with George St. Pierre at UFC 124. In that bout, Koscheck was defeated via unanimous decision but also suffered a broken orbital bone on the right side of his face that led to corrective surgery to repair the damage.
Currently there is no word on who Koscheck will be facing in his UFC return but a fight with long time light heavyweight, Stephan Bonnar, has been speculated in the past as a possible match up. The two had a falling out earlier this year when Koscheck sued Bonnar for using his likeness in Bonnar's Trash Talk Kids clothing line. Bonnar has stated his willingness to drop down in middleweight to settle his dispute with Koscheck.
Another possible match up would be against Jon Fitch, should Koscheck fight at his usual 170lbs instead of making the leap to middleweight.
Fitch recently stated his willingness to fight anyone the UFC matches up with him, contrasted to his previous assertions of only fighting current title holders or former champions. Both men are coming off layoffs and a fight with Koscheck would be a good middle-ground for Fitch, not fighting a title holder but still a relevant fighter in the welterweight division.
The only noticeable obstacle in finalizing this bout is that both men train at the American Kickboxing Academy and have voiced their unwillingness to fight a fellow teammate.
