Junior dos Santos discusses matchup with Cain Velasquez, predicts a second round knockout win
by Hubert Lau on November 12, 2011

Junior dos Santos is set to battle Cain Velasquez later today at UFC on Fox for Velasquez's UFC heavyweight belt. "Cigano" boldly predicts a second round knockout in his favor according to fightersonlymagazine.co.uk.

"I believe that I will win this bout, even more if it stays standing. Everything can happen, we can't rule out any possibility but I believe, I got faith, I will win...Knockout in the second round and a beautiful belt to bring to Brazil," dos Santos said.

In preparation for his fight with Velasquez, dos Santos has been training in his native Salvador. The Nogueira brothers and André Luiz Piccoli are just some who are preparing dos Santos for his fight with Velasquez. Piccoli, conditioning coach, has also been working with dos Santos to push his cardio to new limits through six rounds of sparring and other cardio intensive workouts.

"I think Cain draws attention for his conditioning and aggressiveness. He looks for the fight and doesn't stay still. It raises difficulties but I continue believing in my form and I think my time has come," dos Santos said.

Matchup wise, dos Santos and Velasquez both display fearsome striking as both men racked up a combined 16 TKO/KO wins over 23 fights. Velasquez has said in the past that he believes his boxing is more technical than dos Santos' muay thai.

"I got faith in my hands, for sure. I don't know whether he is more technical than me because I think I'm very technical as well. Who knows? I will know better after the match-up!" dos Santos said.

Velasquez will look to defend his UFC heavyweight title from dos Santos later today at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. Their fight will broadcast 6pm/9pm PT/ET. The rest of the card which includes a lightweight tilt between Clay Guida vs. Ben Henderson is set to stream through facebook.com and foxsports.com.

"I hope to give a great show there and bring that belt to Brazil," dos Santos concluded.
