Junior dos Santos will be fighting Cain Velasquez in his home base of San Jose, California for their upcoming heavyweight title bout at UFC 139 but the Brazilian is unfazed by the overwhelming fan support Velasquez is sure to receive according to bloodyelbow.com.
"Actually, I don't pay much attention to the fans before the fight. My focus is on my opponent. I get into the octagon looking at him, thinking about him and I have only my game plan in mind. I guess where we're fighting, the fans will support him, but that's not a problem... I'll make them cheer for me." dos Santos said.
Velasquez sports a flawless record of 9-0 by defeating the likes of Cheick Kongo, Ben Rothwell, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Brock Lesnar en route to capturing the UFC's heavyweight title. Velasquez trains at the American Kickboxing Academy situated in San Jose.
"He's so far undefeated, he's the UFC champion, and that's what I'm worried about. I don't mind if he's undefeated to far or if he's a tough guy or if it's Velasquez. To me it only matters that he's the UFC champion and I want to become a UFC champion. I'll be 100% for this bout, I'm feeling great. I guess it's my time. It's my turn. I'm improving everything in my life and, on the day of the fight, I'm sure I'll bring this belt to Brazil." dos Santos added.
"Cigano" (13-1) himself has also defeated the who's who of the heavyweight division to earn his title shot. In his last bout dos Santos thoroughly dominated former title challenger, Shane Carwin, at UFC 131 and won via unanimous decision.
UFC 139 is held on November 19 at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California. Velasquez will be making his first title defense against dos Santos.
