With UFC newcomer Ronnys Torres injured, Justin Buchholz will likely step in for him against the hard-hitting Jeremy Stephens at UFC Fight Night 19 on September 16 from the Cox Convention Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. This news was broken by our friends over at MMAmania.com.
This marks the second time Ronnys Torres' UFC debut has been delayed. He was set to make his octagon debut at UFN 18 in April against Melvin Guillard, however, he pulled out of that bout due to a knee injury.
Buchholz is coming off a loss to Terry Etim at last month's UFC 99 which drops his UFC record to 1-2. In previous UFC bouts, he defeated Corey Hill at UFC 86 and was defeated in his UFC debut by Matt Wiman at UFN 12. Overall, Buchholz owns an 8-3 overall MMA record, with 7 wins by way of stoppage.
Stephens dropped his last fight against Gleison Tibau at UFN 18 in April. His last win inside the octagon was last November at UFC 91, when he earned "Knockout of the Night" for his KO win over Rafael dos Anjos. Stephens currently owns a sub-par UFC record of 3-4, with wins coming over Cole Miller and Diego Saraiva. Eleven of Stephen's fifteen wins have come via TKO or KO.
UFN 19 is headlined by the lightweight tilt between TUF 5 winner Nate Diaz and Melvin Guillard and a lightweight bout between Gray Maynard and Roger Huerta which will serve as the co-main event of the evening.
The event will serve as the lead-in for the tenth season of Spike TV's "The Ulimate Fighter: Heavyweights".
