by Jacob Camargo on April 28, 2010

A lightweight bout between Karen Darabedyan and Will Kerr is set to take place on the un-aired preliminary portion of the WEC 49 card on June 20 at Rexall Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. News of the bout was first reported by FiveOuncesofPain.com.

Darabedyan (9-2) is coming off a loss against Bart Palaszewski at WEC 47 in March. He previously won seven straight fights, which included wins over Saad Awad, Joe Camacho, Estevan Payan as well as a win over former WEC lightweight champion Rob McCullough in his WEC debut this past November.

Darabedyan, who is a training partner of WEC featherweight contender Manny Gamburyan, has competed for other notable promotions throughout his nearly four-year career such as Shark Fights, Gladitor Challenge, Call To Arms and Total Fighting Alliance.

Kerr (8-2) is also coming off of a loss, as he was defeated in his WEC debut by Kamal Shalorus at November's WEC 44 event. Prior to the loss, he had won five straight fights to earn a contract with the WEC.

Kerr has fought the majority of his five-year career for the Northeast-based Full Force Productions organization, fighting half of his 10 career fights with the promotion. He has finished five of his eight career wins.

The Versus televised WEC 49 event will mark the promotion's Canadian debut. Headlining the event is a lightweight bout between fast-rising contender Kamal Shalorus and former WEC lightweight champion Jamie Varner.
