Karlos Vemola out, Eliot Marshall in against Luiz Cane at UFC 128
by Tim Groves on February 23, 2011

Karlos Vemola (8-1) was forced out of his scheduled light heavyweight bout against Luiz Cane (10-3) at UFC 128 on March 19th.

TATAME announced today that Eliot Marshall (10-2) will be returning to the UFC as his replacement.

Marshall accumulated three straight wins inside the UFC before losing to Vladimir Matyushenko and being released from the promotion despite his 3-1 record. Many felt that it was in retaliation to Marshall's wrestling heavy style, which many found to be boring. Since his release, Marshall has racked up three straight wins outside the promotion.

Cane will look to rebound from two straight losses in the UFC. After posting three impressive Octagon victories, the Brazilian has lost to Antonio Rogerio Nogueira and Cyrille Diabate. Cane almost certainly needs a victory to maintain his spot on the UFC roster.

The Vemola/Cane bout was scheduled to be apart of the Spike Prelim portion of UFC 128. It was not announced if the fight will still be broadcast.

UFC 128 is headlined by a light heavyweight title fight between Mauricio Rua and Jon Jones.
