Karo Parisyan vs. Dustin Hazelett added to UFC 106
by Jacob Camargo on August 24, 2009

A welterweight bout between Karo Parisyan and Dustin Hazelett appears to be set for UFC 106. Both fighters have agreed to face each other at the event, according to a report from MMAWeekly.com.

Parisyan (18-5) hasn't fought since defeating Dong Hyun Kim at UFC 94 in January. Following the win, he tested positive for three banned painkillers and his victory was changed to a no contest. Parisyan was also suspended for nine months and fined $32,000 by the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

The "Heat" was defeated by Thiago Alves at UFN 13 in his previous bout and he hasn't tasted victory since defeating Ryo Chonan at UFC 78 in November 2007. Parisyan is 8-3 (1 NC) during his time with the UFC, with big wins over Chris Lytle, Nick Thompson, Matt Serra and Nick Diaz. The 10-year veteran of the sport has finished 9 of his 18 career wins by submission and the other nine victories came via decision.

Hazelett (12-4) was originally expected to fight Ben Saunders at UFC 96 in March, however, he suffered a torn ACL while training for the bout. He had successful surgery to repair the serious knee injury, and has been sidelined rehabbing the damaged joint.

"McLovin" has won his last two bouts but has hasn't fought since last November's UFC 91, where he defeated Tamdan McCrory. The Brazilian jiu-jitsu specialist has put together a 5-2 UFC record, with other notable wins over Jonathan Goulet and Josh Burkman. The King of the Cage and Extreme Challenge veteran has finished an amazing 9 of his 12 career wins by submission and holds notable wins outside of the UFC over Jason Ireland and Chad Reiner.

UFC 106 takes place on November 21 from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event will feature a heavyweight title bout between current UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar and challenger, Shane Carwin. Also slated for the event, former UFC light-heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz will be welcomed back to the octagon by MMA pionner Mark Coleman in a light-heavyweight feature.
