Following four straight losses, UFC veteran Keith Jardine has been cut from the organization.
Jardine lost to Matt Hamill in a majority decision at The Ultimate Fighter 11 finale, marking the culmination of a losing streak that began back at UFC 96. Even though the action was good enough to earn Fight of the Night honors, it proved to be one loss to many for "The Dean of Mean."
Jardine (15-8-1), who competed as a heavyweight on season two of The Ultimate Fighter, fought for most of his UFC career as a light-heavyweight, going 6-7 during his time in the Octagon.
The decision to cut Jardine was confirmed by UFC president Dana White on Thursday.
"It sucks," White told MMAFighting.com. "I have nothing but respect for him and I hope to see him back soon."
Over the course of his 13 fights in the UFC, "The Dean of Mean" was matched against some of the biggest names in the sport, and notched up several significant wins, including an impressive TKO of Forrest Griffin and victories over Chuck Liddell and Brandon Vera. He also fell short against men like Wanderlei Silva, Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, and Thiago Silva.
