MMA legend Ken Shamrock and Kimbo-Slice-slayer Seth Petruzelli will fight for the WFO light-heavyweight title at International Unlimited Fighting: "The Return of Buluc" on March 6 in Cancun, Mexico.
Petruzelli announced the bout on his official Twitter account.
"ok my next big fight, me vs. ken shamrock live on PPV from cancun mexico for the WFO belt! International Unlimited Fighting is the fight org... this will be a 5 rounder for the belt! ALL satellite and most ALL cable companys will get this fight live on PPV." Petruzelli wrote.
Ironically, Shamrock will be facing the man who replaced him when he was forced to pull out from his fight against Kimbo Slice at Elite XC: "Heat" in October 2008 due to a cut suffered in warm ups. Petruzelli went on to famously knock out Slice at 14 seconds into their bout in one of the most-watched fights in the history of the sport.
Shamrock (27-13-2) has not fought since defeating the late Ross Clifton at War Gods: "Valentine's Eve Massacre" last February. Following the win, he tested positive for three types of anabolic steroids - Norandrosterone, Noretiocholanolone and Stanozolol - and was then suspended for one year and fined $2,500.
"The World's Most Dangerous Man" previously lost five straight bouts, which included losses to Rich Franklin, Kazushi Sakuraba, Tito Ortiz (x2) and Robert Barry. Though he has fought for notable promotions such as Pride and Cage Rage, he has competed most of his nearly 17-year career with the UFC (where he was the first UFC Superfight Champion) and Pancrese (where he became the the first-ever King of Pancrase).
Shamrock has fought a combined 34 of his 42 career bouts with the UFC and Pancrese. He has finished 25 of his 27 career wins, including 23 coming by submission, and holds notable career wins over the likes of Kimo Leopoldo (x2), Dan Severn, Bas Rutten (x2), and Maurice Smith.
Petruzelli (11-4) has won his last three bouts, most recently defeating Chris Baten via first-round TKO at Art of Fighting 4: "Damage" in August. He has not suffered a defeat since UFC Fight Night 9 in April 2007, when he was defeated by Wilson Gouveia. Shortly after the loss, the UFC parted ways with TUF 2 cast member after going 0-2 with the promotion, with a previous Octagon loss against Matt Hamill.
The King of the Cage, WEC and Ultimate Warrior Challenge has finished all but one of his 11 career wins by TKO or KO, and holds notable career wins during his almost ten-year career over Rocky Batastini and Dan Severn.
