Middleweights Kendall Grove and Goran Reljic have been confirmed as participants for UFC 116 in July. News of Reljic's participation on the card was reported by MMAjunkie.com.
Meanwhile, Grove revealed he is fighting at UFC 116 on his official Twitter account.
"Heading to the gym crank weights," Grove wrote. "Got a fight July 3 so pumped."
Neither fighter has a confirmed opponent, but the UFC is reportedly aiming at matching Grove and Reljic against each other.
Grove (11-7) is 1-2 in his last three bouts, suffering losses over the stretch to Ricardo Almeida at UFC 101 and Mark Munoz at UFC 112 earlier this month in a bout that earned both men an extra $75,000 for their "Fight of the Night" performance. His lone win over that three-fight span came in his previous bout against Jake Rosholt at UFC 106 in November.
"The Ultimate Fighter" season 3 winner has been somewhat inconsistent during his time inside the Octagon putting together a 6-4 record in 10 fights with the UFC. He holds other Octagon wins over Chris Price, Ed Herman, Alan Belcher, Jason Day and the late Evan Tanner, while suffering his other UFC losses to Jorge Rivera and Patrick Cote.
Reljic suffered his first career loss in his last bout, dropping a unanimous decision to C.B. Dollaway at UFC 110. It was the Croatian's first fight in nearly two years, as he was sidelined with several injuries stemming mostly from back issues. He underwent lower back surgery last February and tried several different rehabilitation solutions to solve his back problem following the surgery.
Reljic previously made a successful UFC debut as a light-heavyweight at UFC 84 in May 2008, where he scored an impressive second-round TKO win over Wilson Gouveia. He has put together a nearly perfect 8-1 MMA record since turning pro in April 2004, scoring stoppage wins in all but one of his eight career victories including five by submission.
Reljic is currently training in training in Zadar, Croatia and will be making a trip to Subotica, Serbia. Part of his preperations for his fight at UFC 116 will be spent at Xtreme Couture in Las Vegas.
Though not officially announced, UFC 116 is expected take place on July 3 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event will likely be headlined by a UFC heavyweight title unification bout between UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar and interim heavyweight champ Shane Carwin.
