A welterweight bout between Kevin Burns and TJ Grant is likely to happen on the undercard of the UFC 107 event on Dec. 12 at the FedEx Forum in Memphis, TN. News of the bout came via MMANews.com.
According to the report, both fighters have agreed to the bout. As both of them are coming off of losses, Grant and Burns must pick up a win in order to keep their spot on the near-full UFC roster.
Burns (7-3) has lost his last two bouts against Anthony Johnson and, most recently, Chris Lytle at TUF 9 finale in June in a bout that earned one of three "Fight of the Night" honors. He sports an even 2-2 UFC record, with wins in his first two bouts against Anthony Johnson and a big upset win over Roan Carneiro in his UFC debut. Burns has managed to finish all seven of his career wins.
Grant (14-3) is coming off his first loss in the UFC as he was defeated by Dong Hyun Kim at UFC 100 in July. Prior to the loss, he had won six straight, including a win in his UFC debut over Ryo Chonan. The longtime King of the Cage and TKO veteran has finished an amazing 12 of his 14 career wins by submission, and he holds other notable career wins over former UFC fighters Chad Reiner and Forrest Petz.
UFC 107 will be headlined by a UFC lightweight title bout between current champ B.J. Penn and top contender Diego Sanchez. In addition, former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir will take on Cheick Kongo, and Kenny Florian and Clay Guida will face each other in a very interesting lightweight tilt.
