UFC president, Dana White, confirmed that Norifumi Yamamoto and Damacio Page will battle in a bantamweight tilt at UFC 135 according to ufc.com.
Both fighters are known for their striking with a combined 19 ko/tko wins in 30 fights and this match-up should bring fireworks. Yamamoto and Page will look for their first win in the UFC after losing to Demetrious Johnson and Brian Bowles respectively in their debuts.
Yamamoto (18-4) was considered one of the top featherweights during his time spent competing in the K-1 promotion in Japan, building a 17-1 record as of 2007 and defeating the likes of Caol Uno, Genki Sudo and Royler Gracie. However a knee surgery sidelined Yamamoto from 2007 to 2009 and since has gone 1-3 in four fights.
Page (15-6) has competed in numerous promotions, most recently in the WEC prior to his UFC debut. Page holds a notable victory over Scott Jorgensen, whom he took to a decision at WEC 32. Page will look to snap a two fight losing streak with a win over Yamamoto at UFC 135.
"These are two of the most aggressive sluggers in the always-exciting bantamweight division," said White on ufc.com.
