Kimbo Slice may face Matt Mitrione at UFC 113 in Montreal
by Jacob Camargo on January 17, 2010

A heavyweight bout between The Ultimate Fighter season 10 cast members Kimbo Slice and Matt Mitrione could take place on the UFC 113 card on May 1 at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

News of the bout was first reported by FiveOuncesofPain.com. However, according to a post on Mitrione's Facebook "Fan Page", reports of the bout are untrue.

"The rumors are NOT true," Mitrione wrote. "I have not been contacted by anyone about fighting anyone. I'd love for it to be true, but its not."

If made, the bout would likely be featured on the televised main card given Slice's popularity and proven drawing power. The proposed match-up would be to the fan's delight, as it has the potential of being a serious slugfest as both fighters like to stand and bang and have no interest in taking the fight to the ground.

Slice and Mitrione were on separate teams on The Ultimate Fighter 10 reality show; Slice with Team Rampage and Mitrione with Team Rashad. Slice was eliminated in the opening round by eventual tournament winner Roy Nelson, while, Mitrione scored a unanimous decision win over former UFC fighter Scott Junk in the opening round, but then lost in the quarter-finals to James McSweeney.

If booked for the event, Slice will be making his Pay-Per-View debut after fighting in front of audiences on Spike TV, Showtime and CBS.

Slice, who is a former YouTube street-fighting sensation, most recently scored a unanimous decision win over Houston Alexander in his official UFC debut at TUF 10 finale last month in what was a special 215-pound special attraction bout.

Prior to joining the UFC, Slice put together a 3-1 mark with the now-defunct EliteXC promotion. He easily defeated the likes of Bo Cantrell, Tank Abbott and James Thompson all via stoppage in his first three career bouts. Slice then suffered his lone career loss in his previous bout at the hands of Seth Petruzelli in the main event of EliteXC: "Heat" in Oct. 2008.

Mitrione made his professional MMA debut at TUF 10 finale on Dec. 5, scoring a second round knockout win over Marcus Jones. The ex-NFL football player had only been training in MMA about a year and a half prior to joining TUF 10 reality series. He currently trains out of Indianapolis, Indiana, at the Integrated Fighting Academy with UFC welterweight Chris Lytle.

Though not officially announced, UFC 113 is expected to be headlined by a light-heavyweight title rematch between champion Lyoto Machida and challenger Mauricio "Shogun" Rua. In addition, former UFC light-heavyweight champions and bitter rivals Quinton "Rampage" Jackson and Rashad Evans will likely square off on the card.

Other bouts rumored for the event include Paul Daley vs. Josh Koscheck, Marcus Davis vs. Jonathan Goulet, Alan Belcher vs. Patrick Cote and Jeremy Stephens vs. Sam Stout.
