Kimbo Slice vs. Houston Alexander, 215 lbs. catchweight bout, at TUF 10 finale
by Jacob Camargo on October 31, 2009

A long-rumored and much anticipated bout between sluggers Houston Alexander and Kevin "Kimbo Slice" Ferguson is set for the Ultimate Fighter season 10 finale on Dec. 5 in Las Vegas, NV, not the previously rumored UFC 107 event on Dec. 12 in Memphis, Tenn.

The Slice vs. Alexander bout will more then likely appear on the evening's Spike TV-broadcast main card, due to Slice's ablity to attract huge ratings.

News of the bout comes from a report from The Times of Northwest Indiana, which cites sources close to Alexander's camp.

According to the report, Slice and Alexander have agreed to fight each other at a 215-pound catchweight. Also included in the report is that the bout was originally set to take place at light-heavyweight (205 pounds). However, Slice would have been unable make the weight.

The possibility of the bout was first reported by FiveOuncesofPain.com on Oct. 13.

Speculation arose that the fight would happen at UFC 107 after Slice made a mistake and hinted that he would be fighting on Dec. 12 in Memphis, Tenn. In an interview with The Canadian Press, Slice said "yes" to the fact that he would be fighting then, but then caught himself and took back his comment.

Also recently contributing to the UFC 107 rumor was Alexander, who confirmed that he would be facing Slice at UFC 107 in December on his radio show in Nebraska. However, when listeners called in for more information on the match up, Alexander refused to comment any further.

Also leading to some speculation about the Slice vs. Alexander bout was Alexander applying for a license to fight with the Nevada State Athletic Commission, according to MMAjunkie.com. According to the report, he will formally apply for a license in the special 35-and-older category at a Nov. 4 NSAC hearing.

UFC President Dana White has not given anything away and has remained mum on Slice's future in the UFC beyond TUF, and did not comment when asked about the the match up during the UFC 104 weekend.

Ferguson is currently a cast member on season 10 of the Ultimate Fighter reality series. He was eliminated from the competition in the third episode of the show by Roy Nelson via second-round TKO in a bout that saw Slice weigh 232 lbs. Despite teasers claiming that Slice will re-enter the competition, it appears unlikely with only one opening round bout left and the quarterfinals being set shortly thereafter.

Slice, a former YouTube street-fighting sensation, sports a 3-1 professional MMA record, with all of his fights under the now-defunct EliteXC promotion. He easily defeated the likes of Bo Cantrell, Tank Abbott and James Thompson all via stoppage in his first three bouts. Ferguson, then, suffered his lone career loss at then hands of Seth Petruzelli in the main event of EliteXC: "Heat" in Oct. 2008.

Alexander (9-4) started out his UFC career in impressive fashion, scoring back-to-back first-round TKO wins over Keith Jardine and Alessio Sakara. Then things took a turn for the worst as he lost three straight UFC fights against Thiago Silva, James Irvin and Eric Schafer.

Alexander most recently was granted approval to take a fight outside of the UFC, where he finally broke his losing streak by defeating Sherman Pendergarst via first-round TKO at Adrenaline IV in September. The Extreme Challenge veteran has finished seven of his nine career wins,...
