by Jacob Camargo on August 12, 2009

A severe knee injury has caused longtime UFC fighter Chris Lytle to withdraw from his welterweight bout against former WEC welterweight champion Carlos Condit. The fight was set to take place on the televised main card portion of the UFC Fight Night 19 event. News of Lytle's injury and withdrawl from the event was first reported by MMAMania.com.

Lytle's departure from the event has yet to be made official by the UFC, however, the search for a replacement is currently underway with more then a month until the event takes place. He'll be out until at least sometime in 2010.

Lytle is 2-1 in his last three fights and is coming off a win over Kevin Burns at TUF 9 finale in June which earned him his third straight "Fight of the Night" bonus. He was defeated by Marcus Davis at UFC 93 in January and defeated Paul Taylor at UFC 89 in other recent fights. Lytle has put together a 6-9 record during his long tenure with the UFC, with his first bout dating back to November 2000 at UFC 28.

During his 10 year career, he has fought for other promotions such as WEC, Cage Rage, Pancrese and HOOKnSHOOT. An astounding 17 of Lytle's 27 career wins have come by submission and he holds notable career wins over Aaron Riley, Pat Healy, Matt Brown and Kazuo Misaki.

UFN 19 takes place on September 16 from the Cox Convention Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and will serve as a lead-in for the debut episode of the tenth season of the Ultimate Fighter which showcases the heavyweight division and includes Kimbo Slice, a mix of UFC veterans and 4 ex-NFL players.

The main event of UFN 19 will be a lightweight tilt between TUF 5 winner Nate Diaz and Melvin "The Young Assassin" Guillard. Division contenders Roger Huerta and Gray Maynard will also duke it out in another lightweight feature.
