Knee injury forces Dong Hyun Kim out of his bout with Chris Lytle at UFC 110
by Jacob Camargo on December 11, 2009

After decimating the UFC 108 fight card, the injury bug has made its way to a new UFC card.

A welterweight bout between Korean Dong Hyun Kim and the hard-hitting Chris Lytle has been scrapped from UFC 110 after Kim suffered a knee injury. News of Kim's injury and withdrawal from UFC 110 was first reported by MMA FanHouse.

The severity of Kim's injury is not yet known and no timetable has been established for his return. With UFC 110 still a couple months away, a replacement opponent for Miler should be found in the coming weeks.

Kim (12-0-1) hasn't fought since notching a unanimous decision win over TJ Grant at UFC 100 in July. He was scheduled to face Dan Hardy at UFC 105 on Nov. 14, but he withdrew from the bout due to an undisclosed injury.

Kim sports a 3-0 (1 NC) UFC record, with prior wins over Matt Brown and Jason Tan as well as a no contest against Karo Parisyan.

Lytle (27-17-5) has gone 3-3 in his last six fights. He last saw action at The Ultimate Fighter 9 finale in June, where he defeated Kevin Burns, earning his third straight "Fight of the Night" bonus. He was originally set to fight Carlos Condit at UFC Fight Night 19 in September but was forced off the event due to a severe knee injury. He underwent surgery to replace his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and repair his medial meniscus.

UFC 110 takes place on February 21 at the Acer Arena in Sydney, Australia. The event will likely feature a heavyweight bout between contenders Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Cain Velasquez. In addition, a very interesting middleweight bout between the UK's Michael Bisping and former Pride superstar Wanderlei Silva will also be featured on the card.
