"Krazy Horse" out, Conor Heun in against K.J. Noons at Strikeforce: "Los Angeles"
by Jacob Camargo on June 03, 2010

Former EliteXC lightweight champion K.J. Noons will not get a chance to avenge his loss to Charles "Krazy Horse" Bennett just yet, as Bennett was forced out of their bout for unknown reasons.

Stepping in for Bennett as Noons' new opponent will be Eddie Bravo trained fighter, Conor Heun. News of the change was first reported by MMAWeekly.com.

Noons' bout with Bennett was slated to take place at the Strikeforce and M-1 Global: "Fedor vs. Werdum" event on June 26 in San Jose, California. However, Noons will instead face Heun on the televised portion of Strikeforce: "Los Angeles" on June 16 at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, California.

Noons (8-2) will be making his Strikeforce debut after signing with the promotion last November. He most recently defeated Andre Amade at DREAM 13 in March. It was his first MMA fight since June 2008, as he put together a nearly perfect 4-1 boxing record during his time away from MMA.

Heun (8-3) hasn't fought since losing to UFC veteran Jorge Gurgel at Strikeforce Challengers 2 last June. Prior to the loss, he won three straight fights, which included a 2-0 mark under the now-defunct Pro Elite banner, scoring wins over Marlon Matias and James Edson Berto.

Heun has been competing professionally since May 2006, while fighting for other notable promotions such as Total Fighting Alliance and IFL. He has scored stoppages in six of his eight career wins including five by submission.

Strikeforce: "Los Angeles" is headlined by a 195-pound catchweight bout between Robbie Lawler and Renato "Babalu" Sobral. Other bouts featured on the main card include a welterweight bout between Evangelista "Cyborg" Santos and Marius Zaromskis as well as a middleweight contest between Tim Kennedy and Trevor Prangley.
